Imam Al-Mahdi (A.S.)
The hadiths reporting about Imam Mahdi are abundant. The main idea that runs through all of them suggests that the topic about the future coming of the Mahdi and Qaim during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny) was well known.
Al-Mahdi, `The Guided One`, is the name given to the restorer of religion and justice who, according to a widely held Muslim belief, will rule before the end of the world. The term Mahdi as such does not occur in the Qur`an, but it is derived from the Arabic root h-d-y commonly used in the Qur`an with the meaning of divine guidance.
